Facts about Colombia Cacao and chocolates


Cacao is an exquisite food source from which we can extract various kinds of cacao products and butter. Raw Cacaos are rich in vitamins and antibiotics, which is used in various kinds of application like mainly in the production of chocolates, confectionery, cosmetics and also medicines. At times science has also proved that chocolate made from the pure cacao bean has the tendency to boost our endocrine levels and induces in relaxation by relieving the stress. The History of the Cacao and chocolate dated from Mayan civilization, they used the cacao to prepare drinks in that age. Now we use cacao in different forms to get the full benefit of it.

Santander and North de Santander, Sierra Nevada, Tumaco, Huila, Arauca, Antioquia, Nariño, Córdoba, etc are some of the Cacao production areas in Colombia.

Colombian chocolates are known for its rich taste and flavor. Basically, chocolate comes in three main varieties of cacaos - Criollo, Trinitario, and Forastero. Criollo is very rich and expensive native cacao bean, Trinitario tastes good with high nutrient value and Forastero is a little bitter version of chocolate. In Colombia, they produce high-quality Criollo and Trinitario varieties of cacao chocolates which give supreme taste and flavor to make chocolates. And also the Forastero kind of cacao is found in some parts.

There are many high stream companies in Colombia, which export the cacao bean products to many countries and also there are some locals who export the cacao products in their own business.
